This is not a lifespan prediction. The future total is daily time × 365 days × (expectancy − age). Change expectancy to model a different horizon. Year uses 365 days, month uses 30.44 days (365 ÷ 12).
365 days per year. Constant daily use. Habits change; this shows scale.
Every number is multiplication, nothing hidden. Daily screen time times 7 is a week. Times 30.44 (365 ÷ 12) is a month. Times 365 is a year. The future estimate takes the years left to the expectancy you set and multiplies again.
For example, 5 hours a day is 35 hours a week, about 152 hours a month and 1,825 hours a year, or 76 full days. Over 52 years from age 28 to 80, that is 3,954 days on screens, or about 10.8 years.
The calculator is explicit so you can sanity-check it. If you change daily time by 30 minutes, the yearly total moves by 182.5 hours. If you lower expectancy by 5 years, the future total drops by 5 × daily × 365.
Life expectancy is yours to set. The default 80 is a round, familiar number to show scale, not a health forecast. Set it to 75 or 85 to see a different horizon. The page never claims to predict how long anyone will live.
365 days per year keeps the math easy to verify. Real calendars add leap days, but over decades the difference is under 1% and harder to audit at a glance.
Constant daily use is the clearest what-if, not the most likely future. Habits change, but holding one input steady shows the weight of a repeated day better than a blended average.
Start from what's actually true on your phone. On iPhone, open Settings > Screen Time > See All App & Website Activity, pick Week and use the daily average. If Share Across Devices is on, choose your iPhone so an iPad or Mac does not inflate it. See how to check Screen Time on iPhone.
For what typical and heavy use look like, compare with average screen time for adults and how much is too much for adults. Time on maps, calls and work apps counts in the same total, so a realistic goal leaves room for the phone use you need.
A quick cross-check: the Phone Addiction Test shows how often the pull happens, while this calculator shows how long it lasts when it does.
A big lifetime number is not a verdict. It is a way to see that a small daily change compounds. Cutting 30 minutes a day from 28 to 80 saves about 9,490 hours, or 395 days.
Pick the hours where savings matter most. The App Blocking Schedule Generator turns a target into blocked windows on the days you choose. The Screen Time Reduction Planner builds a gradual weekly taper from your current average to a target you enter here.
To make any limit hold when the passcode is your own, see how to stop ignoring Screen Time limits. Fella blocks the apps you pick during sessions you start or schedule with a routine, and each session allows one 5-minute emergency unlock.
No. It multiplies your daily screen time by the years between your current age and a life expectancy you choose. The default 80 is a round, editable assumption to show scale, not a medical forecast. Change it to any age you want to model.
Week is daily times 7. Month uses 30.44 days (365 divided by 12) and year uses 365 days. The future total uses your remaining years times daily time times 365 days. All assumptions are shown and editable, and nothing leaves your browser.
Use your iPhone's real daily average: Settings, Screen Time, See All App and Website Activity, Week, daily average. If Share Across Devices is on, pick your iPhone so an iPad or Mac does not inflate it.
If you enter a lower target, saved per year is (current minus target) times 365, and saved over the future is that yearly saved times remaining years. It assumes you switch to the target and stay there, which is illustrative, not guaranteed.
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Reloading the page clears what you entered.
Fella blocks the apps you choose during sessions you start or schedule with a routine, with one 5-minute emergency unlock per session. Use your yearly or future total to pick the hours where blocking matters most.
