A thread doesn't announce itself as a distraction the way a game does, it reads as a reasonable break, which makes it one of the easiest ways a deep work block quietly falls apart. If Reddit specifically is the app your attention drifts to between thoughts, and the task itself doesn't need it, blocking it removes that option before the block even starts.
