The phone is there.
The notifications aren’t.

Select the apps that pull you out of a sit, start a session or set a routine for when you meditate, and only those apps lock. Your timer or guided-meditation app can stay open.

A single buzz during a sit doesn't just interrupt the moment, it tends to end it, because checking "just quickly" and then settling back in rarely works the way it sounds. The usual advice is to put the phone in another room, but a lot of meditation practice runs through the phone itself, a timer, a guided track, an app. Blocking the other apps solves the actual problem without asking you to leave the phone behind.

Block the apps, not the phone

Selection in Fella is per app. If you use a meditation app to guide the sit, leave it unselected and block messaging, social apps, and anything else that would otherwise take the interruption. The phone stays useful for the practice itself; everything else goes quiet.

Start a manual session right before you sit, or build a routine for the time you usually practice so the block starts itself without a decision each day.

Why a notification costs more than its length

The disruption isn't the two seconds a buzz takes. It's the mental thread that follows: wondering who it was, whether it's worth a reply, whether to open it now or after. That thread is exactly what a sit is trying to quiet, and it starts the moment the phone lights up, whether or not you actually pick it up.

One way through, if something real comes up

Each session includes one 5-minute emergency unlock, for the rare case something genuinely needs attention mid-sit. When the five minutes end, the selected apps lock again automatically for the rest of the session.

Beyond a single sit

If you're protecting a longer stretch of focused time, not just a meditation session, see our deep work app blocker page. For a standing daily practice, how Fella routines work covers setting up a recurring time slot in full.
