Exam week doesn’t need
a new app. It needs a routine.

A Fella routine starts a blocking session automatically for every day of exam week, so the block is already running before you sit down to revise, not something you decide to start once you are already distracted.

Exams are the one stretch of the year where a single lapse has a real, dated cost. That makes exam week a good test of any app blocker: not whether it works most days, but whether it holds on the one day you are most tempted to check something “just quickly.” Fella does not have a separate exam feature. It has sessions and routines, and exam week is simply the sharpest reason to use them.

Set it up once, before the stress starts

Build a routine for the days you are actually revising or sitting exams. Pick the apps that pull you away—social feeds, short video, games, whatever it is for you—and set the start and end time. The routine begins the block on its own each day, so there is nothing to remember at 8am with a paper at 10.

A single manual session works just as well for one heavy revision day. Start it yourself and give it a length that matches the day, from a couple of hours to the whole thing. Both approaches use the same underlying session, the only difference is whether you start it or a schedule does.

Still reachable, still bounded

Exam week is exactly when you cannot afford an app blocker with no way through. A group chat might carry a genuine last-minute change to room or time, and a plain lockout ignores that. Fella gives each session one 5-minute emergency unlock instead: enough to check the one thing that matters, not enough to restart the scroll.

When the five minutes end, the block resumes automatically. You do not have to trust yourself to close the app again, which matters most on the day you are most tired of studying.

Block the few apps that actually cost you time

Not your whole phone. The apps worth blocking during exams are the ones you open automatically rather than the ones you use on purpose. For most people that is social feeds, short-form video, and games. Leave anything you genuinely need for revision or logistics—calendar, calling, notes, a study group chat—untouched.

If revision itself keeps sliding into a longer session on one app, timebox it instead of blocking it outright. Our Pomodoro app blocker page covers running revision in fixed blocks rather than open-ended ones.

What changes once exams are over

Nothing you have to undo by hand. A routine only runs on the days you set, so it stops on its own once exam week ends—there is no separate “exam mode” to switch off. If studying is a standing part of your routine rather than a one-off, our app blocker for students page covers building that as an ongoing setup instead of a temporary one.
