Getting ready shouldn’t
compete with a feed.

A Fella routine locks the apps you choose for the length of your actual morning, not a fixed few minutes, so brushing your teeth, making coffee, and getting dressed don't keep losing to a phone in your hand.

A morning routine rarely fails because of one app. It fails because whatever's open when you sit down to eat breakfast, or check the time, becomes the next twenty minutes. This isn't only a social-media problem. For some people it's games, for others it's news or email pulled in "just to see what's happening." The fix is the same either way: decide what's blocked before the morning starts, not while you're already holding the phone.

Cover the whole routine, not just the first minute

Select whatever actually derails your morning. For a lot of people that's social feeds, but it can just as easily be a game, a news app, or email. Selection in Fella is per app, so the block matches your actual routine, not a generic list.

Set the routine to run for as long as your morning actually takes. If getting ready is a 45-minute process with three separate moments where a phone check could derail it, a longer routine covers all of them instead of just the first five minutes after waking.

Why the whole window matters, not just the wake-up moment

Most morning-routine advice focuses on the first phone check after waking, and that matters, but it's not the only risk point. A quiet ten minutes over breakfast, a moment waiting for coffee to brew, a pause while getting dressed, each one is a fresh opportunity for the wrong app to take over the rest of the time you'd planned to spend getting ready.

Still reachable for anything real

Leave Phone, Messages, and anything genuinely part of your routine unselected, a workout app, music, the weather. For the one time something else genuinely can't wait, each session includes a single 5-minute emergency unlock, then the block resumes automatically for the rest of the morning.

If it's specifically social media, or specifically the habit

If social media is the whole problem, not the broader routine, see our narrower block social media in the morning page. For the behavior side of why the first check happens at all, see stop checking your phone in the morning.
