Burnout Buddy pricing:
free for most uses, Pro at $9.99

Burnout Buddy's pricing is unusually generous on its free tier, by its own description. The app says it's free for most use cases, with a single $9.99 Pro in-app purchase and optional tips covering the rest.

This page focuses specifically on cost. For the full feature comparison against Fella, see Fella vs Burnout Buddy. What follows covers the price and what it buys.

"Free for most use cases" is a broader claim than a typical freemium split. Rather than a hard feature wall, Burnout Buddy frames its free tier as sufficient for most people, with Pro as an upgrade for less typical needs. Verify the current offer in the app before purchase.

Most competitors on this list split features into a clear free tier and a clear paid tier. Burnout Buddy's own framing, free for most use cases, suggests fewer people need to pay at all compared to apps with harder caps on app count, unlock frequency, or scheduling.

The $9.99 Pro purchase is priced as a single in-app purchase, not a recurring subscription in current records. That's a meaningfully different cost structure from Fella's ongoing monthly or yearly billing, worth confirming directly in the app before assuming it's a one-time cost.

The core product supports multiple configurable blocking schemas rather than one fixed rule. Strict Mode adds custom strictness levels and uninstall protection, while triggers based on time, usage, location, Focus, Siri, and custom conditions give it more automation options than a simpler manual or routine-scheduled session.

It also covers both apps and websites, unlike Fella's app-only scope. Burnout Buddy additionally makes clear privacy claims: local storage, anonymous identifiers for installed content, and no account or VPN required, with the App Store privacy label currently showing no data collected.

Anyone whose needs fall within typical usage. If the app's own claim holds for your case, most of Burnout Buddy's functionality is available at no cost at all.

People who want configurable triggers without a recurring subscription. If the $9.99 Pro purchase is indeed one-time, it's a low, single cost for location, Siri, and custom-condition triggers alongside Strict Mode.

Anyone comparison-shopping should still confirm the current offer. The app's own free-for-most-uses framing is a claim worth verifying against your specific needs before assuming no payment will be required.

Buyers choosing purely by customization or price will likely favor Burnout Buddy. Its free-for-most-uses framing plus a modest, apparently one-time $9.99 Pro purchase is hard to beat against Fella's ongoing $9.99 monthly or $34.99 yearly subscription.

Fella's case depends on preferring its fixed daily-access rule over Burnout Buddy's configurable triggers. If you want one unchanging rule rather than several conditional ones, that's the tradeoff Fella's price reflects. See how Fella works or Fella's current pricing.
