There is less network plumbing to explain. Fella's blocking rule is an iPhone restriction, not a remote allow-or-deny decision on every request. The product stays focused on selected-app access rather than presenting itself as a privacy VPN or web-security service.

The block happens at the app-access layer. When you try to open a selected app during an active session, iOS shows Fella's shield instead. Fella does not need to identify and interrupt the app's individual network requests.

Useful apps remain available. You choose what to restrict. Calls, messages, maps, banking, work tools, and anything else you leave unselected can continue working normally. See the complete Fella app-blocking flow.

Fella does not inspect your traffic to enforce the block. The core restriction comes from Apple's זמן מסך frameworks. Fella is not reading URLs, filtering DNS queries, or passing app traffic through its own VPN endpoint as part of that enforcement path.

Fella still uses online services. RevenueCat supports subscriptions, optional account services support connected features, PostHog provides product analytics, and Sentry provides diagnostics. Those services can communicate over the network even though app blocking itself is not VPN-based.

Yes. Fella does not occupy the iPhone's VPN connection. Its app shields use זמן מסך controls, so a separate VPN can remain connected for work, privacy, or remote network access while Fella restricts the apps you selected.

The two tools affect different layers. Your VPN handles network traffic. Fella handles whether a selected app can be opened during a blocking session. Fella does not configure, disable, monitor, or troubleshoot the third-party VPN.

A VPN can still affect online services. If its server, filtering rules, or connection has a problem, purchases, restores, account synchronization, analytics delivery, or other internet requests may be delayed. That does not turn the זמן מסך shield into VPN-based blocking.

Fella routines start blocking automatically. Choose the days and times, select the distracting apps, and Fella registers the routine with Apple's Device Activity system. The iPhone can then start and end the shield at those times without maintaining a Fella VPN connection.

Manual sessions use the same enforcement method. Start a session whenever you need it and choose how long it runs. Apple sets a 15-minute minimum for the זמן מסך session interval; longer sessions and recurring routines can cover work, study, evenings, or weekends.

Every active session includes one five-minute פתיחת חירום. Use it when you genuinely need quick access to a selected app. Fella temporarily removes the shield, counts down five minutes, and automatically applies the current block again when the window ends.

It does not switch a VPN on or off. פתיחת חירום changes the local app shield for that short window. Your separate VPN connection, if you use one, remains a separate system.

Neither architecture is automatically better for every job. VPN and DNS tools can be useful when the goal is website filtering, network security, remote access, or traffic routing. Fella is the clearer fit when the job is simply to keep selected iPhone apps unavailable for a defined session.

Compare products by their actual implementation. VPN-based blockers differ widely: some process traffic locally, some rely on remote servers, and some combine multiple methods. This page describes Fella's architecture, not every product that uses a VPN.

Fella is for app access, not network administration. Choose it if you want an iPhone app blocker that works through Apple's זמן מסך system, leaves the VPN layer alone, supports manual and scheduled sessions, and provides controlled emergency access.

Choose another tool when the network is the real target. If you need a corporate tunnel, country switching, malware filtering, DNS controls, or broad website blocking, use a service built for that job. Fella does not pretend app shielding replaces a VPN.
