The restriction is applied by iOS instead. After you approve Screen Time access and choose the apps that distract you, Fella uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to apply and schedule the block.
That distinction is narrow but important. No VPN explains how Fella enforces app access. It does not mean the whole app is offline or that Fella uses no subscription, analytics, or diagnostics services.

Every active session includes one five-minute Emergency Unlock. Use it when you genuinely need quick access to a selected app. Fella temporarily removes the shield, counts down five minutes, and automatically applies the current block again when the window ends.
It does not switch a VPN on or off. Emergency Unlock changes the local app shield for that short window. Your separate VPN connection, if you use one, remains a separate system.
